Software vendors update programs when they find security holes to try and block attacks but if you don’t have the newest version on your PC then you could be vulnerable and with all of the programs on your system this becomes a major task just try to keep up with updates. Great tool to map out your wireless network.
We found a great FREE program to create a heat-map of your wireless network to help you configure access points and antennas to achieve maximum bandwidth. A company called Ekahua makes a program called Ekahua HeatMapper that will give you a visual representation of you wireless network showing your access points with signal strength shown as varying colors. Have you lost internet connection after removing spyware or a virus? The most likely cause is a corrupted Winsock. The winsock ( short for windows sockets API ) is the group of settings that allows Windows to talk over networks using TCP/IP protocals such as the Internet. Many spyware programs will modify the settings in the Winsock so they can see where you are going and what you are doing on the internet.
