Apple 3rd party Iphone and Ipod battery packs being recalled
Best Buy and Mophie both announce that add-on battery packs sold some certain Apple products are being recalled due to fire hazard. Two separate recalls were issued based on consumers reporting overheat issues with the external battery packs for Apple Iphone 3g, 3gs and Ipod Touch 4G devices. The devices are sold as Mophie Juice Pack Air and Rocketfish RF-KL12. The consumer product safety commission stated that 31,000 Rocketfish battery cases for the iPhone 3G and 3GS are affected in the US and about 1,000 in Canada. While the number of reported cases is only 14 the issue warrants a recall because of the potential fire hazard. The CPSG received 110 reports of overheating in the Mophie battery cases, it is unknown how many cases are affected. If you use either of these battery pack cases stop immediately and follow the guides below.
