Hanns-G HW173D Monitor Repair
If you have a Hanns-G HW173D monitor with no power or blinking power LED then this guide is for you.Below you will find a full walk thru on repairing your LCD monitor. To do the repair you will need the following tools: Soldering iron, de-solder braid, Phillips screwdriver, small flat blade screwdriver and a 3/16" nut driver. You will also need the following electronic parts: qty(1) 470mf 25v capacitors, qty(1) 220mf 25v capacitor, qty(2) 1000uf 10v capacitor, and qty(1)470uf 10v. We sell a repair kit with all of the parts for $12.00
This is not guaranteed to solve all problems but in most cases this is the issue with this model.
If you don’t want to do the repair yourself, use the service request link above. Most monitor repairs run $30-35 plus return shipping.
Here we have a non functional HANNS-G HW173D monitor. This one has no power light or display at all. The internal power supply is not operating.
First you need to remove the power cable and the stand. To remove the stand remove the 4 screws as shown in this picture.
fter the stand is off you need to unscrew the screw as shown below.
Now remove the faceplate by inserting a flat blade screwdriver into one of the release slots on the bottom of the display.
As you release the tabs pull the two sections of case apart and work your way around the display. The release catches are about 3 inches apart on all four sides. If you slightly twist the case the latches will release easier and then just separate the 2 halves.
Before you can remove the power supply and processor boards you will also need to unplug the signal cable from the LCD panel as shown to the right.
Now remove the 8 screws holding the processor board and power supply board in the shield as seen below.
Thist picture shows both boards after they have been removed from the case.
The 5 capacitors that need to be replaced are shown on the right circled in yellow. The values and positions are as follows: C303 is 220uf 25volt, C261 is 470uf 25 volt, C241 and C244 are 1000uf 10volt and C242 is 470uf 10volt. Remember to install the replacement capacitors with the polarity stripe going the same direction as the old ones come out.

This is great information. Do you think that this is applicable to a HANNS-G hx191d monitor? If so, I will definitely buy your kit. Please let me know.
Cheers,
Mark
Hello,
That unit takes a slightly different kit. I will send you some information in just a bit about the pars you need.
Thanks a lot. Look forward to hearing from you with the appropriate information
I would also be interested in info about the HANNS-G hx191d as well.
Also (sorry if off topic here) looking for any info on a Hannspree HF257 25″ monitor.
I’m getting 5V but not 12V out of it, it powers, but then display goes blank after a few seconds.
Thanks in advance!
admin, please – any info on either of the other hannsg models? Ive recapped, but further info must be needed. thanks
Ive got 2 hans g HC194D ive followed the guide here to take one apart its very similar apart from the internal circut board it is slightly smaller however it does have from looking at it some faulty capacitors ive got 2 with discoloration and chemical on top and the are 2 more that seem to be bevelled and not flat im assuming that the other monitor is going to be the same as the problem i had with it was it kept flicking on and off with no picture. any advice to what capacitors i need would be great.
Cheers
Marc
Hello,
The caps you need are as follows:
A and B: 10v, 1000mf
C and D: 25v, 470mf
E and F: 25v, 220mf
See attached picture for parts placement. We have the correct caps in stock with matching size and ratings if you need to order them. The kit runs $12 with shipping.

Got the same problem as Marc on Wed, 14th Apr. I’m replacing some 220uf 25v caps, and the guy at the shop tells me that that 220uf 35v will do the same job – is this true for caps? Also, the problem will eventual happen again without some moding for xtra air?
Thanks,
V.
Hello,
Yes, You can use 35v caps in place of 25v caps if they will fit in the same physical space. Be sure to use the correct type of capacitor for the repair. General purpose capacitors from places like Radio Shack will not work and they can in fact damage the unit more. Check out this page on capacitors we have that explains what you need to get for the repair
Ok, I have a board in a monitor that I haven’t seen on your sight. I suspect is is the power supply board since it has a hiss to it before the LCD cuts out. The monitor is a Hanns-G HC174. The board is a Sampo DIAPHS0006D42. Would this kit work with my board?
Thanks,
Sim
I have a hansg tv model JT261 with exactly the same problem ie nothing on screen and flashing LED light any suggestions??
Hello and welcome to our site,
If you could post a picture or two of the power supply board from your TV to our forum section at: http://www.ccl-la.com/forum/index.php We will try and help you out, posting it to the forum will allow others to benefit from the information too.
We just added the repair kit to our parts store, the link to the kit is: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=89 We will be adding the repair guide tonight.
The power LED on my HW173D would just sit there and blink forever before turning on with much plugging and unplugging of cables. I ordered the kit from your website, followed the directions, and now it’s working perfect! Thank you for putting this out there!

i have a hanns g 281d power light stays on but the backlight shut down ..unplug the vid cable replug up it comes on then after a min or so backlite is off…is that a bad inverter board or caps on it bad ,,,thanks
Yes,
It sounds like you have a faulty power supply board with bad caps. That board has 11 caps that will need to be changed out. We carry a kit for that model at: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=112 Look it over and check you r monitor for the bulging caps.
I have a Hanns G HG281D, and it was very erratic with the power for a while…. would not want to come on, had to keep messing with the power button, and it would finally come on. But would sometimes go off at any time. Now, nothing when I press the power button. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help
Hello,
We have a repair kit for this unit, you can get the information at: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=112 If you have any additional questions just let us know.
[...] The first problem was opening the thing up without breaking it. Fortunately, somebody else had already documented this part, I just followed the instructions on this CCL-La.com [...]
I am also interested in a repair kit for the HX191D.
When connected to the power supply, everything remains dead. There was no lightning puncture or anything like that, just a pin in the vga connector that was bent.
What payment options do you offer, and what is the shipping cost? (–> Germany)
Yours sincerely,
Michel Waringo.
The HX191D uses the FSP043-2PI01 power supply board. This is the same board that is used in other monitors such as the Acer AL1916. You can get a repair parts kit here:
