Repairing a Dell E177FPf LCD monitor with power issues

In this repair guide we will show you how to repair a Dell E177FPf 17″ LCD monitor with power supply issues. This power supply board is also used in the Dell E176FPf and E196FPf. If you have a unit that has no power, a wavy display, is slow to show a picture or just has a blinking power light and no picture then this repair guide should help you get it back going again.
To complete the repair you will need the following tools:
Phillips screwdriver
Soldering iron
Lead free solder
Desolder wick
and then the capacitors that need to be replaced.
Qty 2 220uf 25v capacitor
Qty 1 1000uf 25v short capacitor
Qty 1 680uf 16v capacitor
Qty 2 470uf 25v capacitors
Be sure to use good quality low ESR, high ripple current, high temp capacitors or you can damage the power supply board. More information on getting the correct capacitors can be found on our capacitor page.
