Repairing the Westinghouse LCM-19V5

We had a Westinghouse LCM-19V5 come into the shop over the weekend with a failing power supply. The unit uses the DAC-19M001 power supply board. The monitor just had a blinking power light and no display. A failure of the power supply on this model can also be indicated by a monitor that is slow to turn on or takes a minute or two to show a picture. The dis-assembly of the monitor is just like the Westinghouse LCM-22W3 units so we are just giving the board repair details, you can get the dis-assembly information in our other guide.

Here is a picture of the DAC-19M001A power supply board.

The capacitors that need to be replaced are circled in yellow, the red circle shows the resistor and coil that will need to be resoldered. The parts circled in red overheat and the solder joints deteriorate and cause problems so while you are in the unit just resolder and avoid the problem. The capacitors are as follows:
C200, C203, CE100 220uf 25v
CE101, CE102 1000uf 25v
CE104 2200uf 10v
CE105 1000uf 10v
CE107 22uf 50v

Be sure to use the correct capacitors for the repair. You can check out this page on our web site that gives additional information about capacitors:

  2. I would love to watch a video or even read how to disassemble my westinghouse LCM-19v7 MONITOR. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO REPLACE THE POWER SUPPLY BUT I CAN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET TO IT AND I CAN’T EVEN TAKE APART THE CASE FROM FEAR OF BREAKING SOMETHING. I HAVE REMOVED ALL SCREWS HOLDING THE CASE TOGETHER EVEN SEPARATED THE FRONT AND BACK FRAMES YET I CAN’T SEAM TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE EITHER ONE FROM THE OTHER. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE A TOTAL ANGUISH RELIEF AND I DON’T CARE IF ITS EMBARRASSING.
