Here we will be repairing a Westinghouse LCM-20V5. This repair article will also cover other monitors such as the Viewsonic VG2021M that use the DAC-12M033. If your monitor either has a blinking power light or a very dark picture then this should help get you back running. Below you will find a full walk thru on repairing your LCD monitor. To do the repair you will need the following tools: Soldering iron, de-solder braid, Phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver. You will also need the following electronic parts: qty(3) 220mf 25v capacitors, qty(2) 1000uf 25v capacitors qty(1) 1000uf 10v, qty(1) 2200 10v capacitors. We sell a repair kit with all of the parts for $15.00 This is not guaranteed to solve all problems but in most cases this is the issue with this model.

If you don’t want to do the repair yourself, then please use the service request link above.

The Westinghouse LCM-20V5 monitor uses the Delta DAC-12M033 power board, this board can fail because of blown capacitors. This one has just a blinking power light and no display. The symptoms of a power supply failure can also be a very dim display or no power at all.

The first thing that needs to be done is remove the stand and the signal cable. The cover over the stand just pops off and then you can get to the screws to remove it. You will also need to remove the screws around the perimeter.

After the stand and cables are removed you will need to take the case apart. Insert a small flat blade screwdriver between the two halves of the case as seen below and pop the halves apart.

With the back removed the next thing to do is remove the metal shielding that covers the power supply and control electronics boards. You will need to remove the screws that are circled below and unplug the backlight plugs as seen circled in red below.

Here we can now see the boards. The power supply board will need to be removed. Unscrew the 4 screws that are shown circled and then unplug the power board from the control board.

The repair will require the replacement of the following capacitors:
C200, CE101, CE108 220uf 25v
CE104 1000uf 10v
CE102, CE103 1000uf 25v
CE105 2200uf 25v
The locations of the capacitors are shown below circles in yellow.

After replacing the capacitors you will just need to reassemble the monitor and test. You should now have a fully functional monitor again.

  4. Hello Ken,
We have the parts kit the for the Viewsonic VA1912wb power supply DAC-12m030 available at the link below:

We recommend replacing all of the capacitors in the power supply at once, if one or two have issues then the others are close to failing too.

  6. Best $15 I spent. Works like new again. Had the monitor sitting out in the garage for about 6 months now, and when I hooked it back up, it is like going from a pocket TV to a Big screen TV. Thanks for a useful site, and having the parts in a kit!!!!

  8. Thanks for this post. I did replace the capacitors as you show, and it fixed my monitor – for 1 month. Now it is doing the same thing as before – powers on for about 10 seconds and then shuts off. Can’t get it back on unless I wait for several minutes – repeats the same problem.

Any idea what I can try next?

    Thank you Corporate Computer Liquidators
(buddy@ccl-la.com) for sharing this simple repair procedure. I ordered the 7 capacitors from you and replaced them using you videos to get monitor apart and to locate the capacitors. Every thing works fine now just as you said it would.

  16. I have 2 units Viewsonic vg2021m, with same problem, screen on by 3 minutes, and suddenly off (blue led still on).
After replacing the capacitors, only 1 unit fixed. but the other one still have the same symptom…3 minutes on, and screen off again.

Any idea what next to be check or might need replacement?
