Here we have a non functional Samsung 2053BW 20″ LCD monitor. This one has no power at all.
First you need to remove the power cable, signal cable and the stand. To remove the stand remove the 2 screws as shown in the picture below. After the stand is off the you should be able to finish removing the case.
The case will pop open if you insert a small flat screwdriver between the 2 halves and apply a gentle pressure. Once it starts opening just use your fingers and work your way around the screen.
After the back case is removed you need to unplug the backlight cables and the control panel cable as shown.

Next move the metal cover just a bit and unplug the flat ribbon cable that goes to the display panel as seen below.
With the electronics removed you can get to the power board by removing the 3 screws like in the picture below.
The capacitors you need to replace can be see here. Notice the bulging tops, the top should be perfectly flat. All of the capacitors may not be bulging but they will still need to be replaced. If you don’t replace all of them now you will have to reopen the unit and replace them within a few months, so just save your time and do it now.
The capacitors you need to replace are circled in the picture on the right. Use solder braid and remove the bad caps and solder in the replacement caps. Be sure to replace them in the proper polarity, you will see a stripe on the side. The stripe is the negative lead. Just reinsert the new caps with the stripe going the same direction. The values and part locations are listed here:
470uf 25v – C210, C209,C207,C206
1000uf 16v- C201, C202
330uf 25v – C203, C205
After the parts are replaced just reverse the procedure to reassemble the case. Now apply power and you should have a fully functional monitor again.

Thanks for posting this. The 201 and 202 capacitors were bulging on mine. I would turn on the monitor and the power light would blink and it would show the Analog and Digital reading on screen, but wouldn’t find the connection. I have a Samsung 40″ LCD that also needed capacitors replaced. The had used 10V for the 1000ufs which was too low.
Thanks for the post it helped me greatly and my monitor is now working again
it worked fine for me too. I only replaced the bulging ones though – 201 and 202.
Tell me what you're thinking...
