Trouble shooting LCD monitor power supply problems

Postby enigmanamaly » Mon Jan 16, 2012 11:38 am

I have a SKEPTRE X32GV KOMODO 32" LCD HD TV when turning power on, it comes on for few seconds then shuts off
After researching this problem need to check compacitors on power supply i see no visual bulging or vent slits My question is " is there a way of testing these compacitors using a digital multimeter " ? Any help with this kind of problem or trouble shooting technices or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated Thank You

You would need an ESR meter to properly test the capacitors, a multitester would not do the job right. There are some brands of capacitors that can fail without showing any signs of bulging just to add difficulty to the diagnostics. Can you post a picture of the power supply board and get the model number from the board so we can cross reference it and see if we can find a solution for you.
