Q&A for Westinghouse monitors

LCM-22w3

Postby tbuckley » Sun Jun 17, 2012 2:46 pm

I have 2 of these Westinghouse monitors. Replace the caps on the first one, works great. (Thanks to this site and your cap pack) Then after a while the second one same problem (screen comes on for 2-3 seconds then black). I replace the caps and same problem, checked the fuse and it seems good. So I got another board and still 2 sec then black screen. What would be my next step or two to figure out whats up with this.

Thanks

Hello Tim,

Sorry for the late reply.

The next things to check would be the solder joints on the two transformers by the back light plugs. Resolder each joint, should be about 6 on each transformer. When the connections are under stress the solder can break and cause the power supply to pull to much current so it shuts down. If that does not make a difference the the next thing would be if you can swap the two power supplies from your units and see if the problem says with the LCD panel or moves to the other unit. If the problem stays with the power supply then the issue will be with the 2 8pin transformer driver chips on the board. If the problem stays with the monitor then it would indicate the issue is with the back light bulbs in the LCD panel. Check this and post your findings and we can go from there.
