ViewSonic 2235WM power problem

ViewSonic 2235WM power problem

Postby TomC » Wed May 30, 2012 10:09 pm

Hi I been having a problem with my Viewsonic 2235 wm monitor- in particular the capacitor/powerboard issue.

Based on your sites advice I decided to give it a shot repairing it.

I bought the required parts except you guys were out of soldering irons so I bought else where. Unfortunately this soldering iron was terrible quality and did more harm than good and I decided to abort the repair as I was getting solder on the circuit board where it shouldn't be. My powerboard that came with the monitor was a DAC 19M009 AF unfortunately I assume this board is now effectively ruined from my poor repair job. I see on your description that the DAC 19M010 BF board is also used with this model viewsonic, I can buy this board off ebay- would it be compatible with my monitor even though not exactly the same board? I tried a DAC 19M005 AF board, this would allow the screen to power on for 2 seconds before powering off. I assume this board is not compatible with my monitor and as such am hesitant to get the 19M010 BF as it is not the same my computer came with albeit it is virtually impossible to find a new 19M009 AF board to purchase

Thanks Tom

Hello Tom,

New boards for any of these units will be almost impossible to get. The ones on Ebay from China are pulls from dead monitors and in most cases the capacitors on them are dead so you would have to rebuild the board anyway. The DAC-19m010 and DAC-19m009 are basically the same board, one has the audio amplifier for speakers in the monitor and the other does not support in monitor speakers. Either one will work if you are not worried about the speakers. The DAC-19m005 should have also worked, it almost sounds like that board had a bad MOSfet driver chip. You stated that you damaged your board, what happened? How bad is it damaged? We may be able to repair your board for you. Let me know and we will help any way we can.
